OR0189 Glide

TOPS OR 189, Glide celebrated their 50th anniversary and the party was a hit!  Leader, Barbara Sulffridge and the chapter members put on quite a lovely celebration. The history of the chaper was read and everyone was impressed with all that they have achieved over the past 50 years. Barbara spoke on the qualities of each member and how much they do for the chapter.  Names were drawn and each person attending received a prize. The food was "sensible" and delicious. Tiny two-bite cupcakes make by Wendy Harris was a fitting dessert. It was a smashing success. Everyone had a good time.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE TOPS BALL GAME

LEADER, Kellie Hanson writes: My TOPS chapter just finished a nine week baseball game and I am sending you this photo. The tops seven winners lost a total of 58.75 pounds. In order to be eligible to place, you had to lose at least 5 pounds. Everyone loved creating their baseball player. What I liked most about the game was the opportunity it gave our KOPS members. The KOPS players could either play by TOPS rules for themselves or they could mentor a TOPS player. It was an exciting nine weeks. The score could go either way at any time, depending on if the players did their weekly assignments, which allowed them to steal bases. ...a demonstration on making soup!!
I asked Jo to send me her program, and here's what she said, I don't have an exact recipe. I use Better Than Bullion for the base. You can get it at Target. (Deb: I would try to stock up (no pun intended) when it goes on sale because it's awfully expensive, but it IS better than bullion) Jo: I blend together, using a blender, a can of stewed tomatoes and add soup base. I microwave a bunch of my favorite veggies separately because they take different times to cook. (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery..etc..cabbage adds bulk. Add onions or onion soup mix if you prefer. At the very end, add a can of green beans. You may add rice or beans. (Deb: I use a handful of salad macaroni or shells) and then at the very, very end, add some frozen peas. (Deb: If you add too much starch or meat, there goes the LOW CAL advantage, and I can tell you this is NOT low sodium...so, be careful.)

Hats Off to TOPS AZ0035, Bisbee

Leader, Valerie, writes: Much fun and humour was had by all today. New and gently used officers were congratulated and vowed to do their best for the good of AZ0035 Bisbee for the next year. Silly hats were worn with aplomb and Regina was voted the winner in a real stunner, earning her the first prize of a fruit basket. Donated food items were dropped off at the homeless shelter in Tin Town. A sampling of finger foods brought our gathering to a close. Participation was great and I hope everybody had as good a time as I did.
